4 reasons to create a SmallBusiness.com user profile

First the best news: We’ve made it much, much easier to create a User profile on SmallBusiness.com. We’ve installed a wiki “extension” that makes creating a user profile as easy as filling in the blanks and uploading your photo or logo (or, avatar, as it’s officially called). To create a User profile, simply log into your account (or create one, and then log in) and follow the directions.

Tip: Anytime you want to see your profile page, just click on your username found at the top of any page.

Here are four reasons to create a User profile:

1. You can get a cool URL that looks like this: SmallBusiness.com/wiki/User:Rex

2. For as long as we can fight off spam-bots, we do not use the “no follow” tag, so your profile can provide a link to your website or blog. (We reserve the right to turn on the no-follow tag to deal with link spam.)

3. Every time you create or edit a SmallBusiness.com entry, a link back to your User profile appears at the bottom of the entry.

4. Soon, we’re going to start featuring User profiles on the front of SmallBusiness.com. The better your profile, the more likely we’ll feature yours.

5. (Bonus) For those who are adventurous (or a tiny-bit geeky), you can use some simple wikitext code to add video or feed content via RSS to your profile — and even create a “User-wiki” with information about your company (more on that later). For an example, see how the headlines from this blog appear on my User Profile.

”’Note:”’ If you are a blogger, please feel free to re-use this post. Thanks.
